Pledge to Become a Mental Health First Aider!

Pledge to register for a Mental Health First Aid training and you'll be entered for a chance to win two Dear Evan Hansen tickets, a backstage VIP meet + greet with the cast, and dinner with BTWF co-founder Cynthia Germanotta!

We've teamed up with our partners at the National Council for Behavioral Health and Dear Evan Hansen to make this possible because May is Mental Health Awareness Month and this issue is urgent. One in five Americans live with a mental illness and we ALL need to do more. Mental Health First Aid is like CPR for the mind. It will teach you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges and crises. It will give you the skills you need to reach out and provide support to friends, family, and even strangers who are in need.

Make a difference in your community and get a better understanding of how to be there for your friends, family, and peers.

#BeKindBeTheDifference and register for a training today!

  • In order to be eligible to win, you must take the pledge and register for a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training between May 1, 2018 and midnight PST on May 31, 2018. Note, the training itself may take place at a later date as long as you have registered by May 31, 2018.
  • The winner will be selected at random from everyone who has taken the pledge between May 1, 2018 and May 31, 2018.
  • If you are selected as the winner, you will be asked to submit proof - such as a screenshot of your registration confirmation - that you have registered for a MHFA training between May 1, 2018 and midnight PST on May 31, 2018. Note, the training itself may take place at a later date as long as you have registered by May 31, 2018.
  • Born This Way Foundation will cover the following costs for the winner and their guest: transportation to and from New York City, one hotel room for one night, and the dinner with Cynthia Germanotta. Any additional expenses incurred cannot be covered.

FAQ:

  • I'm under 18. Can I still participate?
At this time, MHFA is only available to people 18 years and older. As a result, it is unfortunately not possible for those under 18 to participate in this contest.
  • What date and time will the dinner with Cynthia Germanotta and the tickets for Dear Evan Hansen be for?
It's flexible! We'll work with the winner and their guest to determine a date that works for them.
  • When do I need to take the pledge by?
Midnight PST on Thursday, May 31, 2018.
  • I took the pledge! Do I need to do anything else?
Yes! In order to be eligible to win, you must take the pledge AND register for an upcoming Mental Health First Aid course. If you're selected as the winner, you will be asked to submit proof - such as a screenshot of your registration confirmation - that you have registered for a MHFA training between May 1, 2018 and midnight PST on May 31, 2018. Note: The actual training can take place after May 31, 2018, you just need to have registered within the May 1-31, 2018 time frame.
  • I've already been trained in MHFA. Can I still participate in the contest?
We're so glad that you've already become a Mental Health First Aider! However, this contest is a way to encourage people who have not already been trained to register for a course, so existing Mental Health First Aiders will not be eligible to win.
